God dam this waking up in the middle of the night

What's with this!?!?!? I'm totally sick of this!! Why do I keep waking up at 4am or before. I like sleep, I'd just like to do more of it, from when I go to bed, until it is light or even later. Preferably until after the birds wake up, not before when it's still fucking dark. Grrrrr

Good-bye Clara

Clara woke up her usual self this morning, but with-in a few minutes something went wrong.  An hour or so after that, she wasn't able to stand very well and it was clear she wasn't going to last much longer.  We were able to get the home visiting vet in, who was able to help Clara go.

It was awful, but I am glad we were able to do this for Clara, and that for her last few weeks Clara was perfectly healthy and happy.

Busy busy caching days

Yesterday, my caching buddies SirJ-Oz and sharkiefan and I went to pick up 80 caches along to road to the Otway forest. The trail started outside Moriac and went 61km towards Forrest.
Here we are. I look a bit fat
This is the road we cached along.
We went to a dam and it was really windy
This was from lunge time
John and I took a photo!
Here is a field
We made it to the end.
It was a big day

The today, Sharkiefan and I went to Eyansbury. I was another big day. Even thought it was only 21 caches, there was a 3km walk in there too, which was a bit hard on my hip. Here are a few pics.

Tomorrow I am heading out again. This time it's SirJ-Oz and I.  We are heading to the Geelong area again, this time to pick up a series of puzzle caches we have solved. Should be fun :)

Scarves

I am the owner of a lot of scarves, but I always have the problem of how to actually wear them.  I mean there are people out there who are natural fashionistas and they can make a hessian sack look good, but I am not ones of those people.

A while ago, I found this video. I keep having to find it again on the web, so I have decided to link to if here. I think it is really helpful.

Bad news

There has been some bad news here in Thornbury. Yesterday morning Clara didn't want her toast. This is most unusual. We also noticed she was a little pale (yes it it possible to tell if a black dog is pale) and a bit porky and firm in her tummy. All this added up to us having a heap of trips to the vet and finished with Clara going under the knife at around 5pm last night. There weren't going to be many good options to come out of the surgery and whilst we didn't end up with the best outcome, we didn't get the worst one either.
Clara had her spleen removed and a mass of tumers around the size of a tennis ball.  Whilst we don't have the pathology back, the vet has advised us it is mostly like going to be malignant (cancerous) tumers.  These tumers had ruptured and were bleeding into her abdomen which was give all the symptoms. Unfortunately this was not the first bleed, it was just a larger one, so enough to give symptoms.  This means that there is a highly likely hood that Clara has cancer elsewhere in her body. Her outlook is not good.

She is recovering well from her operation and is sitting with me here on the couch. Once she recovered from the blood loss caused by the bleeding she should be back to her usual self.  However long we have left with Clara is going to be very hard on us, but I plan on trying to make the time as special as possible for Clara.

If any of you who know Clara would like to come around and see her, you are most welcome too, just give me a ring.

Weight

Wow, I've just become one of those people. When I started this blog (omg was it really 7 years ago?) I was reading a lot more of other people's blogs and I was always rather surprised and slightly disgusted by how many were about people's weight loss journey's. I kind of promised myself I would never do that. So I won't as an ongoing thing, but I will just mention in passing that for the last while I have been wasting liteneasy instead of normal food. I have been loosing some weight too. I haven't been going this with the aim of being thinner (not that heat wouldn't be a nice thing) but mostly with the aim of getting some weight off my hip, which is completely STUFFED!!!
Anyway, I got a badge this morning and I thought I would share it with you :)

Barnie

So the boys had a barnie today while we were at work. It seems as though Conner was the one to come out second best. This is a first. Guthrie has always been bottom dog in this family but this evening Conner has been even been a shakie dog. We have had to cut off a fair bit of one side of his beard. There are quite a few punctures in his face and a lot of red and bruised skin. He was very well behaved while we were tending to him with salt water and cotton wool. We will have to keep a bit if an eye on him for the next few days and he doesn't improve or he starts looking worse, it will be off to the vet for poor Conner.

Great idea

So, I had this really great idea.  Neil bought a lazer level and I thought I could use it to trim the hedge, as I have never been that happy with my manual efforts at trimming it.  I tried the other day with string, but as the hedge is quite long, it kept sagging.

Here is a photo of the very woodie looking hedge.

I set up the level today.  I was about to start, and the skies opened.  It is only meant to be 11°C today. Thankfully it was only a short shower, so I headed out with the tripod and lazer.

Bugger..... You can't see the line outside.  I'm unsure if it is too bright, or if the red line is being absorbed into the green plant (I might be over thinking that last one)

This might have to be an evening job

Geocaching

I just realised I have now been caching for 6 years!
Wow! that's a long time. Still loving it, so I can't see me stopping any time soon.

I cached on both Saturday and Sunday, for the whole days. I was completely stuff after both days. On the plus side, I got to hang out with great people and I notched up my 2700th cache find. I wonder what next weekend will bring? (who am I kidding, if it's not too rainy, a trip to the coast near Wonthagi is already found to... you guessed it, find more caches)

I'm not sure if this link will work, but it is my caching profile on the GC web site. If not this one should work.
